SLEEP

SLEEP

Sleep is a basic human need, like eating, drinking and breathing, and is a vital component of good health and well-being throughout your lifetime. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 in 3 adults in the United States report not getting enough rest or sleep every day. Nearly 40% of adults report falling asleep during the day without meaning to at least once a month, and an estimated 50 to 70 million Americans have chronic or ongoing sleep disorders.

ARE YOU MOVING WELL?
ARE YOU MOVING RIGHT?

Lack of sleep can make you feel out of sync and unproductive, and worse, lead to a surprising number of physical and mental health concerns. Injuries, weight gain, hormone imbalance, slow metabolism, depression, anxiety and chronic disease, to name just a few, can impact your life in the short or long term from poor sleep. And the effects of sleep loss are especially concerning for shift workers who may end up losing or leaving a job because of it.

So, how can you improve your sleep? By understanding your own internal clock– known as your suprachiasmatic nucleus–and your circadian rhythms. Your internal clock and circadian rhythms not only let you know when you’re tired, but they also impact many of your body’s natural processes that, when not in balance, can leave you feeling tired and unmotivated. MOOV helps you manage sleep with technologies where you understand and gain control of your internal clock. With wearable data, messages and small changes, you will learn how to sleep better, adjust your internal clock for different work shifts or jet lag and get back in sync with your life.
